Msgr. Bruno Schettino

Monsignor Bruno Schettino was an Italian Catholic archbishop. First assistant priest and then priest of the parish of Carmine in Nola, in a working-class neighborhood, he worked to make the parish a place of youth gathering. He was also a professor of religion at the classical high school "Carducci" of Nola and of philosophy at the high school of the diocesan seminary, of which he assumed the position of principal for a short period of time. He graduated in Philosophy with a thesis on "Humanism and religiosity in Giordano Bruno" at the Federico II University of Naples.

he took particular interest in the migratory phenomenon, very present on the Domitian coast, often supporting and attending the Fernandes Center for the first welcoming of immigrants and over time becoming President of the Episcopal Commission for Migration of the CEI and President of the Migrantes Foundation.

He is remembered by all as the bishop of the poor, of immigrants, to whom he paid particular attention during his episcopal ministry.

In 1988, he was responsible for the elevation of the Church of the Madonna della Neve on Monte Cervati to a Diocesan Sanctuary.
